Shed update

Some time after the big move (see earlier blog about egyptian way). Damian got rid of the roof and replaced it with a higher one, put more windows in, put varnished fence palings on three sides around the front window which is painted white now, a beautiful doorstep,  insulated roof and walls and replaced the aluminium cladding with weather board, three coats of blue on that... I have just put the second coat of Indian Red on the floor. The square box outside is a heater which gets placed inside to help the paint dry. The outside temperature tends to drop under ten degrees Celsius overnight nowadays. To save up for: plywood for the walls and ceiling. Upcoming: some kind of awning/pergola in front over a wooden verandah. Damian has also made an awesome wooden door, to replace the iron one as seen in previous pictures. So... Grand designs? Certainly a blown budget. What stayed were the wooden floor and the steel wall frames.

Here's a detail of the newly painted floor with step in front. The hardwood  must have been used many times: it has square headed nails in it and lots of other signs of previous lives. I left them in...Great idea, this dreaming up and executing as you go. There is something to say for solid planning but nothing beats the change factor (which can be good and bad)... Adapting to new situations and making the most out of them, without loosing the big picture. Or something like that.

You should turn this into a 5 star hotel. just add a pot bellied stove, folk art and devonshire tea with checked tablecloths and people will flock to your Southern Highlands hideaway.
